Lighting Council Australia advocacy update
09 Oct 2020The Lighting Council Australia Secretariat has continued its extensive parliamentary engagements despite being restricted to virtual meetings due to current travel restrictions as the impact of Victorias COVID-19 crisis continues.
Virtual meetings with key Members, Minister's and Senators ensures the Australian lighting industry is represented at a parliamentary level to which regulatory and policy decision making occurs.
Lighting Council political advocacy efforts keep governments and regulators constantly aware of industry concerns which stand to have adverse effects on Members and the broader lighting industry.
Public Affairs and Environmental Manager Brodie Easton has attended meetings with the Hon Zed Seselja, Assistant Minister for Finance and the Hon Jane Hume, Assistant Minister for Superannuation, Financial Services and Financial Technology. A meeting was also held with Hon Jonathon Duniam, Senator for Tasmania.
At all of these meetings, parliamentary representatives were briefed on Lighting Council Australia's concerns of the federal governments proposed R&D Tax Incentive Bill which seeks to repeal R&D benefits.
